The Industry Leader in Gemological Science and Service
Chooses Landmark Building in New York
June 9, 2010, New York, NY — EGL USA today announced the upcoming relocation of its headquarters and New York laboratory to the World Diamond Tower at 580 Fifth Avenue. The move to the city’s foremost diamond and jewelry building was initiated to provide greater customer convenience, and will provide enhanced security and efficiency for those customers, as well as EGL USA. The new space, which includes a lobby on the 27th floor, will open for business by the last week of July.
“We’re very pleased to be able to bring our business to the most central diamond location in New York City”, said Mitch Jakubovic, director of EGL USA. "We look forward to serving our customers from our new state-of-the-art facility for many years to come.”
EGL USA is one of the largest and oldest independent gemological institutions focusing on gemstone certification and research. EGL USA opened its first lab in the heart of New York’s international diamond and jewelry district in 1977. Today, the EGL USA Group has laboratories in New York, Los Angeles, Vancouver, and Toronto.
The World Diamond Tower at 580 Fifth Avenue has been the premier location for diamond merchants since 1951. Kenneth Kahn, executive manager, welcomed EGL USA to the renowned site.
“Attracting a tenant with the name recognition and prestige of EGL USA is an enormous accomplishment for 580 Fifth Avenue,” said Kahn. “For almost 60 years, this building has been the diamond industry’s most recognizable address because our tenants are the diamond industry’s premier participants. With EGL USA now an integral part of the 580 Fifth Avenue family, our status around the U.S. and the world is even further enhanced.”
